Find the step that is quietly losing the sale.

You already pay to bring people to the site; most leave without buying, and the leak is usually a few specific steps. Decifer rebuilds your buying funnel, finds the step costing the most money, and sizes it, then tells you to prove the fix with a test, not take it on faith.

Conversion beats more traffic, if you fix the right step.

Revenue is traffic multiplied by conversion multiplied by order value. A small lift in conversion on the visitors you already have can be worth more than buying another wave of traffic, and it costs nothing to serve.

Standard analytics will draw you the funnel. It will not tell you which step is bleeding the most money, on which device, or whether a recent change caused it. That is the gap Decifer closes, and it is honest that the final word belongs to an A/B test.

What we won't do

  • Claim a conversion fix without a controlled test to confirm it.
  • Call correlation a cause, a release near a drop is a lead, not proof.
  • Flag every weak step; we surface the one whose loss is abnormal and large.

What the module measures.

Three lenses on the buying journey, each computed from your analytics and store events.

Funnel step conversion

Where people actually drop out

View, add-to-cart, checkout, purchase, the rate at which sessions survive each step, computed from the standard ecommerce events your analytics already tracks, no custom tagging to set up.

What we measure

The drop-off at every step of the buying journey, in real percentages.

Friction, localised

The one step costing the most

Not every leak is worth fixing. We isolate the step performing worse than its own recent trend, the difference between a real regression and normal funnel shape.

What we measure

The specific step where the loss is abnormal, not just present.

Revenue at stake

The leak, in money

A drop-off is only a priority once you know what it costs. We translate lost sessions into revenue at your actual average order value, so the biggest financial leak ranks first.

What we measure

The money attached to each leak, computed from your real AOV.

How it works, step by step.

From a wall of analytics events to a single, money-sized decision, recomputed continuously.

  1. Reconstruct the funnel

We assemble the buying journey from your analytics and store events, read-only, view through to completed purchase.

  2. Measure each step

Step-by-step conversion from product view to completed purchase, computed each month from your standard ecommerce events, so a funnel that looks healthy in aggregate reveals exactly where it leaks.

  3. Compare to baseline

Each step is judged against its own recent trend, so we flag a genuine regression rather than the step that was always the weakest.

  4. Size the loss

The abnormal drop-off is converted to revenue at your real average order value, turning a percentage into a number you can rank against everything else.

  5. Issue the decision, and ask for proof

The step, the likely friction, the money at stake, and a clear instruction to validate the fix with an A/B test. We point to the leak; a controlled test confirms the repair.

One decision, reasoned end to end.

A measured signal, what changed, the move, and the money at stake. The numbers below are illustrative.

Mobile checkout is the single biggest revenue leak.

Illustrative

Signal

On mobile, 61%of sessions that reach checkout don’t complete, against 43% on desktop, an 18-point gap. Mobile is 64% of your checkout traffic, so the gap sits on most of the volume.

What changed

The 18-point gap is recent, six weeks ago mobile and desktop were within a few points. It widened the week of a checkout release. That timing is a strong lead, not proof; the next step is to reproduce it, not assume it.

The move

  • Reproduce the mobile checkout flow on the build that shipped six weeks ago.
  • If the friction is confirmed, ship the fix behind an A/B test rather than to everyone at once.
  • Track mobile completion against desktop as the control until the gap closes.

Ifthe test closes the gap to desktop’s rate, the recovered checkouts are real revenue at your average order value, and you will have the controlled result to prove it, rather than a number we promised up front.

What the module reads.

Read-only from Google Analytics 4 and Shopify; deeper checkout-event tracking is on the way. Every figure is computed, never invented.
